Soil

Like light, loose, well drained, warm soil high in organic matter.

Planting Time

Plant after all threat of frost has passed until 10 weeks before last frost.

Spacing

Plant about 4 inches apart.

Problems

Many Diseases - Maintain good santation and crop rotation. Never touch the plants or pick beans when they are wet to prevent the spread of diseases.

Mexican Bean Beetles - Can be controlled with pyrethrum or rotenone.

Internal Black Spot - Can be controlled by preventing Boron deficiencies.

Harvest

Anytime before they get too big and tuff.

Pollination

Required but never a problem.

Seed Infomation

50 to 75 seeds/ounce.

Watering

Beans enjoy moist soil and frequent watering. Avoid watering leaves to prevent spread of diseases.

Fertilizering

Beans benifit from some Nitrogen before they can produce their own. Best to use a fresh Legume Inoculant each year to get the best yeild.
