Carrots

Soil: Enjoys moist sandy stone free loam soil.
Planting Time: About 2 weeks before last frost date.
Spacing: Carrots have a poor germination rate best to plant seeds about 1/2" apart and thin latter on.
Problems: Carrot Rust Fly - Can be kept off by covering with row covers before adults can lay their eggs on the plants.; Wire Worm - Can be kept off by covering with row covers before adults can lay their eggs on the plants.
Harvest: Can be harvested at almost any size. Just don't leave them in the ground too long or they will get woody.
Pollination: Not Required.
Seed Information: 1000 seeds/ounce.
Watering: Carrots enjoy moist soil and frequent watering. A good layer of mulch will help maintain evenness in soil moisture.
Fertilizing: Avoid heavy Nitrogen fertilizers.
