Celery

Soil: Like light, loose, well drained, moist soil high in organic matter.
Planting Time: Start seedlings 8 weeks before last frost date and transplant after last frost date until 12 weeks before first frost.
Spacing: Plant about 6 inches apart.
Problems: Black Heart - Can be prevented by ensuring that plants have sufficient Calcium.; Celery Mosaic - Control pests like aphids which spread the disease.
Harvest: I pick a few stalk when ever I need it. This does leave the plant open to diseases.
Pollination: Not Required.
Seed Information: 75,000 seeds/ounce.
Watering: Celery enjoys lots of watering. A good layer of mulch will help maintain evenness in soil moisture.
Fertilizing: Celery benefits from Nitrogen and Calcium.
