- Soil
- Like light, loose, well drained, moist soil high in organic matter.
- Planting Time
- Plant seeds 2 weeks before last frost, until 8 weeks before first frost.
- Spacing
- Plant about an inch apart and thin and eat until 6 inches apart.
- Problems
- Slugs - Can be gotten rid of with Diatomaceous Earth or I just sprinkle with salt on them and they dissolve.
- Harvest
- Anytime when they're young. Plants get a little bitter and course with age. I pick a few leaves when ever I need it. I pick the smaller more tender leaves first.
- Pollination
- Not Required
- Seed Information
- 20,000 seeds/ounce.
- Watering
- Lettuce enjoys lots of watering. A good layer of mulch will help maintain evenness in soil moisture.
- Fertilizing
- Lettuce benefits from higher Nitrogen fertilizers.
