Soil

Enjoys moist sandy stone free loam soil.

Planting Time

About 4 weeks before last frost date. Start indoors about 8 weeks before.

Spacing

1 inch apart, then thin and eat.

Problems

Not Many - If you keep them mulched and watered you will get onions. Onions will keep pest away.

Harvest

When the stems start to fall over and die, knock them all over. Harvest about 2 weeks later.

Pollination

Not Required.

Seed Information

5000 seeds/ounce.

Watering

Onions enjoy moist soil and frequent watering. A good layer of mulch will help maintain evenness in soil moisture.

Fertilizing

Avoid heavy Nitrogen fertilizers.
