Soybean Burgers

Great alternative to ground beef..

  • 1 cup of cooked soybeans or any other bean
  • 1 cup of cooked rice
  • 1 cup of ground sunflower seeds or oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup of whole wheat bread crumbs
  • 2 Tbs. of finely chopped onion or shallot
  • 1/4 cup of shredded carrot
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. of fresh basil
  • 1/2 tsp. of fresh oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. of chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. of cumin

Optional:

  • Cheese, any type of cheese

Mix all the ingredients together. Form into burger patties and fry in a little oil. Top with cheese if you would like. Serve on whole wheat bun with slice of tomato, lettuce or sprouts, and salad dressing of your choice.

  • Makes 6 burgers
